Right to Information Act 2005 is an Act of the Parliament of India which gives right to citizens of India to request for information from a public authority (subject to certain exclusions like Intelligence Bureau, Central Bureau of Investigation, Narcotics Control Bureau, etc.). This act applies to entire India except the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
You can use the following format if you are going to file RTI in a bank.
Sir/ Madam,
I hereby declare that I am citizen of India. I am saving/ current account holder (account number _____) in ___ bank. I want to know the reason that why bank has locked my ATM card without any reason and are now refusing to unlock it from their end as well as are also deducting charges from my account. OR I want to know that why extra interest is charged from my ____ loan account and what calculations were made for the same. OR Please provide me correct interest rates, prepayment, documentation issues of ___loan in ___ bank.
